Farewell.. and see you next time?

Oh, last week went so fast. We put the cows inside for the night. Morning cows go out. I'm really sad..  On the last evening we ate a pizza. The last day came and after the morning job I put my overalls to washing machine. I packed my luggage and waited. Waited and I thought about things. Finally we went to Akureyri and before that I hugged Halldor and Haukur, and of course Lubbi, Tara and Skuddi! We went to Christmas House, shop, post office, alcohol shop and many many places. Finally we went to airport and I said farewell to Hafdis. It was so sad. Maybe I'll go back next autumn or sometime. I hope so. My flight to Reykjavik was good. Little airplane was so small and full. I was a little tired when we arrived to Reykjavik. I walked to my hotel, maybe 2,5 km away.

But when I arrived to hotel I met a problem. My room wasn't paid (I thought it was) and I didn't know how much I had money. Cash was not allowed. I used my credit card and paid my room.

My room was so big, twin room and I have seaside view. It was so nice and beautiful. I was little hungry and I didn't have any food, so I went to buy food. At the same time I went to little walk and took a picture of the Hallgrimskirkja. It was really nice and so big church.

At the night I ate and I just spent time doing nothing. Maybe it was 01.00 o'clock when I went to sleep and I woke up at 02:15. I packed my luggage and got out of the hotel at 03.00.  The night walk was really nice. I met some people and outside was a little bit  more noisy than up in the North. I arrived to BSI at 03:20 and waited my bus which left to Keflavik at 04:00. Clock was 04:50 when my bus arrived to airport. I went to my gate at 06.00 after shopping first. My flight was late little bit, but it wasn't  because of the airplane. I talked with somebody who was going to Finland. They were very interested in my journey.

I boarded the airplane. This was the same plane as when I came to Iceland. I was sad.  It was time to say "Last Goodbye, maybe we will see each other again?" to the land. I really really will miss Iceland!

Then we flew over the Vatnajökull and Iceland was left behind.

Whales and The Waterfall of the Gods

The last days have been really wonderful. On Sunday Hafdis drove me to swimming pool. Pool was outside and water was warm (42°C), I had so much fun. Hafdis didn't swim because her arm is broken so she visited Akureyri.

On Monday I went to whale watching and I saw 18 whales. It was amazing! I got a new friend and she is going to Finland next March.  We saw humpback whales, minke whales, blue whale, sei whales and fin whale. There were so many, they were huge and breathtaking! I took many pictures of course :D

And on Tuesday Hafdis suprised me and we went to see Goðafoss, nick named "The Waterfall of the Gods." That was a really amazing waterfall! Drive from our farm to Goðafoss was maybe two hours.

Blogin lukijat ja kuulumisia

Olen kertonut blogistani aina kun joku on sitä kysynyt. Eri ryhmiin Facebookissa olen laittanut kuvia täältä, joista on herännyt keskustelua niin Islannista ylipäätään, työssäoppimisesta ulkomailla kuin tilastakin.

Tilastojen perusteella blogillani on lukijoita niin Suomesta, Islannista, Yhdysvalloista kuin Ranskastakin. Yhteensä 9 eri maasta on eksynyt vierailijoita sivuilleni. Olisi ehkä kannattanut tehdä niitä postauksia useampikin englanniksi.. Yhdysvalloissa on eräs toinen työssäoppija joka luultavasti käy seuraamassa blogiani ja minä seuraan hänen. Juteltiin vähän kummankin työssäoppimispaikasta Facessa.

Olen alkanut miettimään blogin kirjoittamista uudelleen. Edellisenhän lopetin ajat sitten. Jatko on kuitenkin mietinnässä ja luultavasti jääkin vain harkinnan tasolle.

Jos jatkaisin, pysyisikö blogi tällä osoitteella? Ei, tämä saisi pysyä vain Islannin matkablogina. Uusi blogi, uusi osoite.

Mitä tänne sitten kuuluu?

Hyvää kuuluu!
Hafdis on käymässä Reykjavikissa parin päivän ajan, joten olemme kolmistaan töissä. Vasikoita on juotossa kahdeksan (yksi syntyi lisää, joten sen takia ei ole seitsemän) ja tällä hetkellä maitomäärää on vähennetty viideltä vasikalta.

Lampaatkin on otettu jo sisälle (pääsevät tosin sisältä myös ulos mikäli tahtovat, mutta pienemmälle alueelle). Muuten saisivat vielä olla isolla laitumella, mutta kun eivät tahdo pysyä siellä.

Säät on myös olleet hyvät, lämmintä on ollut eikä t-paitaa ja ohuita housuja kummempaa tarvitse. Aamuisin on pimeää ja lehmien löytäminen ulkonta on välillä etsimistä, jos makaavat jossain muualla kuin aukealla. Aurinko nousee tosi myöhään, juuri tällähetkellä aurinko nousee vuoren reunan yli.

Ensi viikolla tiedossa oisi vielä uimista ja valaiden katselua mikäli niitä on näkyäkseen.

Horse roundup

Yesterday we went to Horse Centre at 12am. First we went to a cafe and we packed our stuff to in two cars. We drove to stable and put up canteen. After that I went to the hill with my camera and took pictures of horses. Earlier horses were driven down from the mountains to a field in the valley. Then they were driven inside a big fence in the Horse Centre. There were hundreds of horses.

Inside the fence the owners searched for their own horses. Every owner had little fence where they put their horses. They grabbed a horse under the jaw and led the horses to small fence.

The horses were given worm treatment inside the small fences. Some horses were taken home with small horse trailers. Those who lived farther a way took  their horses home with big truck. Big horse groups were taken home by chasing them as a herd on the road.

Our farm had some young horses there.
