Sheep roundup on the mountain

On Friday, after the morning barn we packed a picnic lunch and horses, and drove to the "neighboring mountain" on the other side. Hafdis talked with a couple of other people present and then we were off.
Journey to the top has begun, you can see how high we are if you check the road

First we went to the lower slope of the mountain herding a couple of sheep in the road , and then we went to the other side of the road to herd more sheep group in the south end of the mountain.

Blesi was restless and a bit crazy horse. Hafdis helped with putting two sheep inside the car on the road. I held her horse, but I had to come down from the saddle because Blesi was becoming restless. We continued our journey to the other side of the road into the mountainside.

Aye, over there?
In the beginning we had to wait a lot. Progress was slow because we had to herd the sheep and go up and down at times. In some places we had to lead the horses. Ups and downs were mainly steep, I never would have thought have about riding in so challenging terrain. The weather was mainly good, only once there came a time when I was cold.
Any sheep in sight?
From there you could climb up or go down with speed, neither of which seemed to make sense but thats what you did.

So the sheep were herded to the south end of the mountain, and from there up towards the mountain top. The aim was to get the sheep to the other side of the mountain, where they would be herded, where they would be herded down to a fenced area near the farm on Saturday.
The trip was still at the beginning at the time the picture was taken. Zipper of the vest is a bit broken so it tends to open by itself
Waiting for the walkers to find gates at the bottom

Getting closer to the top

The spots far down below are horses :D

Here we are already pretty high

Yeah, I would climb that up or come down fast - or then not. But thats what we did.

Here you can see a bit of the steepness of the terrain we climbed

So really, along with us there was a lot of people walking with dogs and a couple of riders. I think there were two riders besides us.

Higher up the views get a new perspective.

There is still a way to go

I guess that looks like a good way to go.

When we were almost at the top , Hafdis left to carry down the lamb in the saddle. For my part, I kept herding sheep and at one point there was quite a lot in front of me. In the end, I was at the top of the mountain. I waited there for a moment until Hafdis came. Blesi greeted the other horse excitedly and I was delighted to see Hafdis. I had wondered where she was, because I didn't hear about the lamb until we were back in the car.
Me and Blesi herding the sheep. Here we are almost at the top. Couldn't see anybody at the moment

It's windy at the top

We went back down from the top. This time we went down some kind of a road. Once down, we took the equipment off the horses and Hafdis and Haldor loaded the horses to the trailer. It was time to go back home.
